maschacorman

Mascha Corman heißt die zeitgenössische Künstlerin mit eigenem Stil. Mal anklagend, herausfordernd, mal ruhig und klar interpretiert sie auf ihre eigene Weise.

Mascha Corman is a voice artist and performer. She studied jazz singing and composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and Hochschule der Künste Bern, as well as deaf education at the University of Cologne. In 2017 she received an individual scholarship from the state of NRW and resided in New York, Oslo, Paris and Bern. In 2018 she and the performance duo Monsters for Breakfast were a scholarship holder of the Sparkassenstiftung KölnBonn and in 2016 a scholarship holder of the GEMA on the topic "Composition with voice and language".

In her art, Mascha deals with the possibilities of the human voice: the combination of word, sound and noise in composition, improvisation and movement. In 2012 she founded the ensemble emco, in 2015 the duo Monsters for Breakfast and since 2018 she has been working with the Canadian laptop artist Mike McCormick on EIDOLON, an electronic improvisation partner.

Mascha initiated and curates the much promoted experimental concert series STIMMUNGEN, which explicitly deals with voice in improvisation and composition. She teaches in various educational institutions, is a lecturer at the Landesmusikakademie Heek and works pedagogically and performatively in the field of the integrative and interdisciplinary art scene. She has participated in productions of the Sommerblut Festival, the Schauspielhaus Köln and the Musiktheater im Revier, as well as numerous smaller international productions.

The children's concerts written by her have taken Mascha and her fellow musicians to festivals such as the Beethoven Festival Bonn, the Summer-KLAENG Cologne, the JazzAhead in Bremen, in music academies, music schools and other educational institutions.
